A number of NO2ID supporters like to chat to each other in real-time, either about ID cards, campaigning generally or just life in general. It helps provide a coherent community, and is more convenient than the NO2ID forums.

If you find the web interface annoying, you might find a full-featured IRC client such as X-Chat 2 for Windows or Konversation more useful. You'll need to connect to the server irc.freenode.net and the channel #no2id.
